Overview

The ER1651U is another component of Nitek’s cutting-edge EtherStretch line. This head-end solution provides a means to power and extends up to sixteen (16) 10/100 Ethernet links, with each link over ONE pair Cat3 (or better cabling) for distances up to 300m. Multiple links can share individual pairs in Cat5/6 or similar cabling. Shielded and non-twisted cabling will have reduced distances.

The ER1651U is a multi-port Ethernet extender for IP video cameras and other network devices. This device includes a layer-2 switch with a Gigabit LAN connection and an SFP port for uplink. The ER1651U operates in conjunction with up to 16 ET1651U transmitter units (sold separately), which are situated adjacent to the remote Ethernet device.

The ER1651U incorporates a power supply to provide power over the wires To the remote transmitters. Because of the limitations of the twisted pair cabling, the power available at the far end is usually only enough to power the far end transmitter. For higher loads, the ET1551U allows for the injection of local power up to 30W at the far end.

The ER1651U and companion ET1551U transmitters require very little setup or configuration. The system is completely transparent to the network with no IP or MAC addressing required. LED indication on the ER1651U provides individual link status. The ER1651U also provides a web page for more detailed information and control of link power and status.
